Still sick but feeling better. Enough so that I think I may be going in to work tomorrow. I've now finished the first season of Robotech, i.e. the first Robotech War, and I've decided Max wouldn't be a good pup for Milliways. Mostly because the canon is so huge and long; some 36 episodes. Also some things I just know I would have to try and fix, like the SDF-1 being able to get from Pluto to Earth in one year without folding space, which would likely end up ruining the fun. I did this with Palamedes and it just warped the pup out of their canon.

All the flak around Batwoman and DC editorial's response, and their views on how a hero's life should be, are making me wary of app'ing Kate again as well. I know I can just go AU with her and haven't completely let go. Heck, it could be fun to play in a universe not limited to the whims of Didio .

I've also discovered a neat new thing, well new to me, RWBY! It's sort of like Buffy meets Grimm with a dash of Sucker Punch (without the Snyder-isms) wrapped in a lovely anime package and delivered online every week. I think I'm enamored of the character Yang Xiao Long, who is basically Ben Grimm with a sunny disposition and no body image issues. Oh and her weapons of choice are shotgun gauntlets. Yes, shotgun gauntlets.

I might have made a journal for her, too, [personal profile] audlocks . Which is a phonetic riddle of sorts. AU=Gold+D+Locks=Goldilocks is one way of looking at it. The other is AU'd 'Locks, i.e. an AU Goldilocks as that is what she is.

Goddamnit. Bad news for Batwoman fans....Williams and Blackman quit Batwoman over DC editorial demands, among them not showing Maggie and Kate actually getting married.

Well, I guess if I bring Kate back she'll be AU like the rest of the DC gals within Milliways.

From Haden Blackman's website:
Unfortunately, in recent months, DC has asked us to alter or completely discard many long-standing storylines in ways that we feel compromise the character and the series. We were told to ditch plans for Killer Croc’s origins; forced to drastically alter the original ending of our current arc, which would have defined Batwoman’s heroic future in bold new ways; and, most crushingly, prohibited from ever showing Kate and Maggie actually getting married. All of these editorial decisions came at the last minute, and always after a year or more of planning and plotting on our end.

We’ve always understood that, as much as we love the character, Batwoman ultimately belongs to DC. However, the eleventh-hour nature of these changes left us frustrated and angry — because they prevent us from telling the best stories we can. So, after a lot of soul-searching, we’ve decided to leave the book after Issue 26.

So I think Kate Kane is a pup who doesn't need me to recount her adventures in OOMs. Parallel OOMs sure, such as the phone calls with Renee, but OOMs recounting the events of the comic don't seem to gel for me and came off as awkward. Like I was trying to write the story rather than let Kate talk through me.

I also need to be careful when playing her as Kate, and not Batwoman, that I don't go straight to spoiled rich girl. Even in her civilian persona she has obvious depth. Yes the rich party person is part of that persona but that is not the whole of it.

I also think I need to write out an examination of my pups, existing and potential as I am collecting head voices again to which I don't have slots available.

So now Kate is stirring. *sigh*

If I do play her again, I'm sticking with her coming in only as Batwoman until I play her in sandboxes as Kate to get the second voice right.
