It does not. Everything is domestic and socially proper, then suddenly bloody attack. The gore isn't Quentin Tarantino level, but it is early slasher movie territory; which is another of my problems with the book. Just mentioning the bad magicians can manipulate blood and flesh isn't enough of a warning, imho.
