Saddle sore and weary
A good weekend even if I am a bit sore. I spent most of it fighting off a creeping crude but I did manage to get a run in Saturday morning (two miles) and a bike ride in on Sunday (18 miles). The bike ride proved I need to get in the saddle more as my saddle conditioning has faded and my endurance just doesn't last past one hour and a half. We did break in the middle of the ride for a Christmas parade in downtown San Jose where I saw an Elmo Kaiju giant balloon (pictures may follow later this week) which was fun.
It feels good to be exercising again. I think I need to give up weight lose and just focus on feeling healthy and strong, not to say I won't welcome some weight loss or need it. In the past few months I have been very frustrated with my weight loss to effort ratio. In the past years if I focused and held on, I usually saw results pretty rapidly. This year however I am not seeing the results I am used to which makes me want to say Fuck it. So instead of going from the point of view "if I run/cycle, I will lose weight", I am sticking with "if I run/cycle, I will be healthy and strong". It's kind of like trying to see faerie; you can't look at it directly, you can only see it out of the corner of your eye.
