On the first day of meme, Ceitfianna gave to me...
From
ceitfianna : Greatest challenges and joys of being a father. (I still have other days available if you are curious about me.)
This is always a good question for me to contemplate as I tend to get wrapped up in day to day things.
First, the challenges:
Keeping patience and remembering where she is is a different place than where I am. A perfect example is when I pick her up at night. She's had a few hours to relax and hang out with her Grandmother while I've been driving on the freeway for the past hour or so. This leads to me being ready to be home and not driving right now, while she is relaxed and watching TV or reading and is fine taking forever to leave. She also doesn't transition well, while I am ready to go most often right away.
Getting her out of Minecraft. I know Minecraft is a great and creative thing but lately it's all she does. If she is not doing homework, she is doing Minecraft. If she is not doing Minecraft, she is watching "how to's" about Minecraft on Youtube. ANd now she has her mother hooked as well....
The joys:
Seeing her understand and excel at things that once were hard. Math used to be a serious challenge for her and I am talking formulas and word problems here. We signed her up for this online math tutoring thing from Stanford and it has been a tremendous help. It be even more help if she would do it every day.
Sharing canons with her. She's my Young Justice, Percy Jackson, RWBY, Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel and many others, buddy and I wouldn't have it any other way. She even started predicting what directions the stories would take.
The other day, her Grandmother asked her, "Guess what?" and she replied back, without hesitation, "Chicken butt." Five years of doing that to her finally paid off! \o/
I love her sense of humor and seeing her developing her sense of self.
In other things, surprise, surprise, I seem to have found another head voice in the form of one Jafar from Once Upon A Time In Wonderland. To be honest, I loved him from the first episode and since we are now seven episodes in, I think I showed remarkable restraint. He will haunt the sandboxes for now but I need to come up with better journal name. Obtenebous is wonderfully pretentious but doesn't really say much beyond dark.

And I shall tag Ivan then. I think I love Jafar's style and the chance to play a baddy. Roman was close but he's pretty decent when it comes down to it.
