Ficlet for the Toby Daye series, spoilers behind the cut.
Quentin sat at the counsel and worried. He knew duty pulled him one way and would force his decree, if he could not find a different road.
It may have been years since he'd seen or spoken with Raj, but he could not believe his dearest friend could have changed so much. Couldn't believe the act of war so many were eager to believe.
Quentin hated to do it, to call Toby from her retirement. But the realm needed her. He needed her. She was the finder of lost things, and when all he loved could be lost, where else could turn?
He just hoped Tybalt wouldn't yell at him too much.
