In today's morning writing I am going to flesh out an idea I have for a Jessica Drew noir AU, which I am thinking might actually make a good story on its own.
Characters:
Jessica Drew: A dilettante who doesn't remember much of her past, especially her childhood. Though she is affluent, her wealth is another mystery. Or perhaps it's an inheritance. Either way, she spends her days going to the theater and sponsors several actresses, most notably Lindsey McCabe and rising ballerina star Natasha Romanova.

Carol Danvers: A barnstormer and friend to Jessica Drew. A hard edged gal who doesn't take any lip. Wears trousers and flight gear. A close friend of Jessica's who has pulled her friend out of trouble many times.

Lindsey McCabe: A daring young actress of both the stage and the silver screen. Does her own stunts and was once the protege of Errol Flynn.

David Ishima: An American businessman of Japanese decent, David is a close friend of Jess and perhaps a bit more.

Natasha Romanova: The rising star of the San Francisco ballet, Natasha none the less has her own mysterious past she hopes she has left behind.

Clint Barton: Friend of Carol and perhaps Natasha. He is a circus performer specializing in sharp shooting and knife throwing.

Set in San Francisco in the 1920s or 30s, Jess's mysterious past comes crashing into her life when a series of murders by the strange Cult of Hydra begin to haunt the city by the bay. At first she and her friends merely read about it in the papers but then David is kidnapped and Jess springs into action, not trusting the police to protect her friend. Mystical challenges and fanatical cultists!

Jess will discover fighting skills she never knew she had (much like the Bourne Identity) and her seemingly mundane friends have their own odd skill sets. Or maybe Jess will discover a talent for magic while Natasha is the martial artist and Carol and Clint just slug their way through? Of course Lindsey will need her chances to shine as well.
