Thoughts and speculations on Irene Adler in the X-Men movie-verse.
Was thinking of how interesting it could be to have an Irene Adler in the XM movie-verse and what role she's played throughout the franchise. For those who don't know, Irene was a mutant with precognition. She was very close with Raven/Mystique, apparently they were even intended as the parents for Nightcrawler but the comic code prevented that story. They did adopt and raise Rogue though and were pretty blatantly romantically involved despite the comics code. It is Irene's vision of the Sentinals that prompts Mystique to attempt to assassinate Senator Kelly, which leads to the original Days of Future Past story.
So my thoughts for her in the movie-verse is something like Layla Miller. She sees all the possible futures or alternate timelines, Days of Future Past, Age of Apocalypse, etc. All the big comic book story arcs, and she works to make them not happen in her world. She's a big picture kind of person, individual lives don't matter as much as directing the future.
I had at first thought of her as an old woman, as in the comics, but realized we have something like 20-30 years of time for her to be around in if she is directing things, and that's just the new timeline starting with First Class. So maybe she'll be a young kid (12 or 13?), like Dakota Fanning in Push, at least in the 60s.
I'm tempted to have her have trouble not talking in riddles or metaphors, too. Otherwise she'd have too easy a time of getting her work done. Or maybe she doesn't reveal the things she sees or the plans she has in motion.
She first meets Raven after Eric is arrested for the murder of JFK. Maybe she even uses Hank to find Raven or protect her while she directs him to find Raven, since I am using the excuse of him wanting to see if Raven is alright after Erik's arrest to make him go on a road trip and find himself. Can you tell I have a fic half written in my head?
And Fi or Cam, if you have any ideas, I'd love to develop her with you. = ].
