Adventures in cubeland
Really having a hard time with motivation today. Lots of work and I just don't want to do it but it's why they pay me. Need to find music to kick myself in gear with.
Currently burning mp3s of Eona for listening to in the car. I swear I am only doing this to be safe in the car and not to steal an audiobook. I remember the first book being fun so I hope the second is, though the cover is getting a raised eyebrow as it is very Western videogame cover for a very Chinese mythic landscape.
Caught up with Agents of SHIELD and have a few thought behind the cut for sort of spoilers.
Triplett is the grandson of Gabe Jones!!!! I can't say how much I love that Jones is part of a legacy. Funny enough, my love of Gabe Jones (and Dum Dum to be honest) comes from the old Godzilla comic and not Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD.
We finally got to meet the Cellist, and I can't help feeling she was just a prop for Coulson. Don't get me wrong, he had genuine feelings for her (well played Mr. Clark) but it felt like the whole point of her being there was to get Coulson to a place where he could forgive May for hiding things from him. She never had her own narrative. I can't say the story passed the sexy lamp test.
Still over all, I am finally loving the series. I feel like Coulson is finally the man we know from the movies and Grant being a HYDRA agent has somehow made him interesting and not an extra on the set.
And random ficlet blurb that popped into my head earlier today featuring Sam Wilson and Jessica Drew:
Jessica Drew: You don't get it. I am HYDRA. They are part of who I am. I cannot ignore that or wish it away.
Sam Wilson: Our past does not define us. We aren't who we were then. We make our own choices.
Jess: You don't get it. The very first thing I ever think when someone gets in my way or pisses me off or is just being a problem, is how to kill them and get away.
Sam: But you don't do it. That's what separates you from them.
