So about that issue of Fantastic Four

bjornwildeSo Johnny is the one who died. I can live with this. Don't get me wrong, I am saddened but I think the death was very in character. In fact about the only criticism I would have is "Where's the Nova blast?"
Once this panel of Ben was the saddest I have ever seen:
Now there is this one:
So yeah, Johnny's dead, sacrificing himself to prevent an Annihilation Wave coming through the Baxter Building and invading an unsuspecting New York. Can't think of a more honorable death but it's still going to hurt Ben, the kids and I would not want to be Ben when he has to explain to Susan what happened.
So Johnny's dead with no take backs right? Not necessarily. What if Johnny gets saved by Lyja just as he's about to be over run. Remember at the end of Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four she went off into the Negative Zone to "find herself". I can see Johnny going nova, melting the technology on the Negative Zone side of the portal to keep the Annihilation Wave from opening it or Reed from doing the same, and then, when he's sure he's going to die, Lyja flies in and saves him. Then he and she spend the next year or so (however long it take Marvel Editorial to decide to bring Johnny back) leading a war against Annihilus and his army within the Negative Zone. Simple and neat.
ETA: One thing just occurred to me that really bugs me, Johnny's telling Ben to tell Reed where his last stand was. It's pretty obvious Johnny knows he's likely to die and he thinks of Reed instead of, oh I don't know, the sister who raised him? Don't buy it. Him telling ben to tell Susan yes, tell Reed and Susan sure but to "Tell Reed" with no mention of Susan? No.
