And Chrstmas time off of work is over, so I am back in the office and have returned to Tiassa. Still loving it and now almost through with it, just the third story left. I had forgotten how much I loved Sticks until seeing him again in the first story. Loved the second, especially seeing Cawti and Norathar working together again. It was funny not seeing Vlad in a story but it worked well.

Now if I could just find my creative gear so I can play a bit while work is slow.

YES! The 50% off sale was still on at Audible, so I was able to get the last four books of the Vlad Taltos series. I am taking this as my Yule and birthday present to myself. Here's hoping I remember and don't buy more pretty things as I need to be careful with my paycheck.

Once I finish these books, I will either take a break or dive into the Viscount of Adrilankha series, which seems to center on Morrolan's past. I'll likely start with Paths of the Dead, as I'd read The Phoenix Guards before and remember struggling with it some. I can't even say if I remember any of the story to be honest. The Viscount series seems to be a follow up to Phoenix Guards and 500 Years After, so I should be okay for not having read them first.

I am back at work, having spent yesterday at home with the Teen who has bronchitis. She's on antibiotics and has been so for two days now, so she'll be going back to school. We'd prefer to let her get over the phlegm but next week is finals and she missed a lot of school from her chronic illness, so we don't want to give the teachers any reason to ignore her work and want to get her as squared away with the content as we can.

My knees have been bugging me lately, but not being in a car for an extended period of time yesterday has helped a great deal. I also managed to cut myself on the tips of two fingers yesterday, which is not a fun thing. So many things we do that involve the tips of our fingers...

Finished Dzur and OMG what a cute ending!!!

Also started Jhegaala and holy shit, Vlad is finding out about his mom?!?!?!?

Almost done with Sergei Lukyanenko's The New Watch, book 05 in his Night Watch series. The book is feeling like the last in the series but according to the wiki article I linked, there's one more to come, Sixth Watch (which is out and translated). I am enjoying it, but Sergei does love to pontificate...a lot. Likely going to wait to get the Sixth Watch for a bit because of this.

I do see that Audible is having a 50% off sale and the Vlad Talos books are included in the sale. Evil! I wish my bank could handle me buying more than two of the books as they're only about $10 each, but I've been spending like a Republican this past week. Still, I'll be reading Dzur tomorrow!

I think I need to reread Last First Snow as Elayne has been stirring in my head again. I wish it was in audiobook format so I could listen while driving.

In mortal matters, I've regained some small bits of weight I had lost, which I am not happy with but that's what happens when I eat poorly. I'm also taking part in a 30 days of Yoga challenge and have only missed one day so far. I'm likely how i feel after but am having trouble finding the time each day to do it.

Now to get to work so that I may play and, hopefully draw later today.

Entering into week three of being sick and I am so ready to be over it. I did go into an Accute Care clinic on Friday but the doctor said it seems like I am mostly over it and there really wasn't much to be done but treat the symptoms.

Somehow this is also making my wanting to thread or do creative things practically nonexistent. Like I remember what fun it is and all, but I am disconnected from it. Blah.

Tried reading Tanith Lee's Faces Underwater but gave up after 4 chapters. I can't complain about the writing, which was good, I just didn't have any connection to the main character and I couldn't see a plot happening. I felt more connected with the city in the book than anything else, and I just don't read fast enough to bother.

I am most of the way through Please Don't Tell My Parents I'm a Supervillain, which is so much better. This has got to be the best portrayal of middle schoolers I've read in some time. They read as honest and true peeps rather than half remembered personas of middle schoolers.

I finished Four Roads Cross this weekend and I really cannot wait until the next Craft Sequence book. I may have made an account for Elayne Kevarian (*cough* [personal profile] carpe_deos  *cough*). Someday I will have to tag someone in a sandbox when I'm feeling up to threading.

I also continue to work my way through the Vlad Taltos series and am up to book 08 of the series. Still very tempted by a Vlad voice, but a journal name hasn't yet occurred to me and I would need two slots open to play him since I can't see him being anywhere without Loiosh, his smart ass, telepathic mini-wyvern type familiar. I think I've given up on the idea of finding an Eastern European actor with a handlebar mustache to use as a PB and will just use this fabulous fan art...assuming I ever get to play him.

ETA: I am about half-way convinced the writers of The Magicians have no idea what they are doing this season. I feel like each episode is only loosely connected to the previous and is wandering lost, with no idea where it is going.
