Feed the Muse, Feed the Warrior

I've been sitting on my laurels lately so I've decided to kick myself in the pants. I'm not only going to give NaNo a shot I'm going to walk/run 50 miles in the month of November. I'm actually off to a good start for the walk/run with three miles already completed. The novel, not so much.

What's funny is when I mentioned the idea to my daughter her immediate response was, "It has to be age appropriate!" Age appropriate is a challenge in my house cause she reads at the 6th grade but is only in the 3rd, thus finding books that are challenging but age appropriate is a recurring theme. Anyway, so the spawn is going to be my beta/co-writer, she'll read what I've written and tell me if it's engaging for her age bracket as well as give me ideas for the story.

We've already had our first clash though. I want to make the story about completely normal children who overcome obstacles in and out of faerie by their own talents, she wants to have some of the children be part dragon/fae. I am already curious to see the final book.

Okay back to house chores. What is it about my taking days off of work that turn into chore days?
