I seem to be broken as far as reading white male power fantasies that aren't comic books. Glad I bought these audiobooks as daily deals and not full price.
bjornwilde: (01-Jess: why would you do that)
Damn it, I have too many good songs on Jess's breakup tape to use for quotes. I will not edit the EP again though. I swear. Even if Meg's I Won't Say (I'm In Love) is perfect.

I mean:
If there's a prize for rotten judgement
I guess I've already won that
No man is worth the aggravation
That's ancient history, been there, done that!
is perfect Jess.

What is Going to War Like by Karl Manlantes

I originally got this book as it was an Audible daily deal and so was only $5 and I figured it'd be good research for Sam Wilson. I am very pleased to say this is, so far, a great book. The author's focus is on the emotional and spiritual price going to war costs, which the author is in a place to gauge, being a Marine who served in Viet Nam. What I really like it that the book is an honest look at what it was like and is not a power ballad to military might or efficiency. Granted I am only two chapters into the book, but I am already learning a lot.
