Finally saw Trank's Fantastic Four and I am glad I only paid $1.25 for the rental; thanks Google Play for the Xmass sale. Without giving away anything, I would have to say the performances were lackluster, there was very little, to no, chemistry between the actors, and it just didn't work. The first half of the film felt like the kind of corporate advertisement meant to impress investors and the second half was just rock-em-sock-em.

The effects were nice, though why Sue's invisible force fields were flashes of blue energy I don't know. It kind of ruined the point of having invisible force fields if you show them. Johnny's flames were great, Reed was properly creepy, and Ben could have worked had they given him pants. Naked Ben is just wrong.

Also, Johnny just wasn't impulsive enough. Chris Evans is still the best Johnny I've watched. I feel like Michael B Jordon could have been a great Johnny, but it seemed like he was reigned in.

And no comment on Doom. That wasn't Doom. I could see it being a weird Annihilus or some other F4 villain, but not Doom.

I think if another F4 movie gets made, they need to take a clue from Nolan's first Batman movie and not use Doom. Yes Doom is what pop culture knows, but it's time to try something new, like how BM had Scarecrow and Ra's al Ghul instead of Joker. Honestly, Annihilus and the Negative Zone would be awesome. In fact, I think that is what all the F4 movies have missed, the sense of exploration that is big in the F4 mythos.
