More talk of Knights of Sidonia...I think I will be using the original subtitled anime (i.e. subtitles done by the Japanese company before Netflix came in) instead of the English subtitles on Netflix, mostly due to word usage and how the original translation has less English cultural influences/nuances.

For instance, instead of "heavy mass canon", it is "heavy mass driver", or HMD. And instead of "garde unit", it is "garde frame". Also, when Yuhata purposefully misgenders Izana, the Netflix English has her calling Izana "Mister Izana" but I know Japanese doesn't have gendered titles. The original translation was "you guys", in other words lumping Izana in a male group, which makes so much more sense, linguistically.

Also, I've noticed the non-verbal voice acting is much different between the two. By non-verbal I mean sighs, grunts, and such. It's very interesting to study these differences. For instance, Kunato comes across as very mustachio twirling or Gothic villain in the Netflix series, while in the original, he's more conceited and jaded.
