I just came back from seeing the film finally and I am glad I saw it in the theater; Magneto's grand standing alway needs the big screen. Overall, I would give it 3 out of 5. This is just looking at the movie and not thinking of feminist issues, as well as not comparing the film to the comics (which is a foolish exercise since they are different mediums).

I think I like the reasons for Charles' depression and loss of powers. I am uncomfortable with how Hank handled things though. I feel like he just did his best to maintain the status quo. Granted we only saw two or three days of their lives; perhaps he had given up on trying to help Charles before we see them. Maybe he's decided all he can do is stand by Charles and hope for the best. I can see a lot of painful threads with Charles struggling with his powers and Hank feeling helpless until he makes the formula again. I think it will be fun to build the school as well. At least until the Vietnam War ruins it.

I am disappointed there were no Hank and Raven scenes beyond one poignant look at the end. I don't like how Hank encouraged Charles to control Raven. In my head canon, Hank has read Gloria Steinem and the feminist ideals. I also see Hank as finally getting Raven after losing her and telling Charles to just mind control her goes against all of this.

I did love his pushing the boundaries of the tech of the days and doing amazing things with it. Hacking the Pentagon's CC TV and sprinkler system with something the size of a hand-held radio? Awesome.

I think the film seriously needed more personal stories or conflicts. I feel like the whole this was Erik and Charles, though there was Charles and Raven as well. Logan bumping into Striker was very well done.

I do wonder what happened to Raven, Erik, and the future mutants in the new timeline that Logan woke up in.

How they played with Blink's powers was awesome! Can she have more speaking lines next movie? If they do follow the Age of Apocalypse canon, I hope she ends up raised/trained by Logan since Sabertooth seems out of the picture.

I still prefer the cat-like makeup from First Class for Hank and will be using it if we ever thread Days of Future Past.

I really hope Singer isn't involved with the next movie so we can have more stories with women as the focus. Losing Kitty as the driving force of the story this time just felt wrong.

I hope Raven walks her own path for a bit and leaves Erik to himself. And I'd love a spin off her forming her own group/team. Can you imagine her taking down Weapon X type programs?
