bjornwilde When she was four, her mother left them and Yang promised to take care of her little sister. That night, after everyone had gone to bed finally, she crept down to the weapons vault and rested her hands inside her mother's gauntlets, the Ember Celica. Though both her hands easily fit inside one, she promised herself she'd grow big enough to wield them.
When she was five, her uncle showed her the Ember Celica and challenged her to grow strong enough to wear them.
When she was six, her uncle put her first pair of boxing gloves on and they spared. Both of her hands barely fit inside a single gauntlet.
When she was seven, her hands non longer would fit within one of the gauntlets but she was still too small. She also bloodied the nose of a boy twice her age who was picking on her sister.
When she was eight, she put one arm in each of the gauntlets and tried to lift them. They were still too big and heavy. Her uncle caught her and laughed at her enthusiasm, telling her she needed to be patient.
When she was ten, she got into a bad fight and inadvertently joined a gang. Her father and uncle quickly put a stop to that. The gauntlets were still too big but she could lift them now.
When she was twelve, she joined the gang, thinking it would be fun and make her stronger. She got into many fights and learned she could earn money when she won. The gauntlets were slowly getting lighter.
When she was fourteen, she lead the gang and was the undisputed street fighting champion. Her uncle came to watch her latest match and said he approved of her fighting technique; that professional fighting was an honorable life if that was what she wanted. He left her to her choices without even mentioning the Ember Celica. For the first time, she didn't try them on.
When she was fifteen, she left the gang and street fighting. The Ember Celica fit perfectly and their weight was like an old friend. "Now the real training begins. Now we train your spirit," her uncle said and she smiled.
