bjornwildeAnd I'm finished enough with Quinlan's new lightsaber to share. Behind a cut cause it's a sorta big png and I hate taking over too much of your flist feed.
So the basic idea is that he is designing the saber for concealment and for who/what he will expect to be fighting; i.e. stormtrooper or smugglers with blasters. The age of lightsaber use has faded and the chances of him coming across Darth Vader are minimal, i.e. I have no plans on him doing that, thus being able to make his blade wider seems to be a bonus for creating more cover from blaster fire.
Still, he may come across a lightsaber wielder and so he's added a cross-guard made of cortosis, which is a rare metal that happens to short-out lightsaber blades on contact. Plus, it makes for a great set of brass knuckles!
I'm handwaving that the design looks something like a heat sink or heat exchange device.
