bjornwilde So I just finished a pretty good book that really reminded me of Shadow Run by way of Solarpunk. Best part was main characters/antagonists that were dragons. Worse part was the tendency to slip into cliched dialogue & writing, over dramatic narration, and not truly fleshed out world concepts. I am talking about Nice Dragons Finish Last by Rachel Aaron, which kept my attention and interest despite the flaws I mentioned. It was even sucking me in for a head voice before I realized I was more into the world and the idea of a RPGing a dragon in such a world.
Then along came this manipulative bastard of a seer. But no, I don't need anymore head voices. Really. Despite the fact it could be an excuse to research Mesoamerican cultures since the dragon clan has Quetzalcoatl as an ancestor. (Something the author didn't even really touch on, sadly.)
Then a tiny little voice said, "Antonio Banderas could be the PB" (yes, I know Antonio is Spanish and not Latin American, but canon is vague on physical details aside from hair and eye color, and come on, Antonio Banderas!) and think of what fun it could be if he met Santo.
Fuck you, impulsive head trap. Fuck you!
