The Return of Random Thoughts
Aug. 13th, 2015 10:26 amWork is actually being kind this week.
I've come up with a new strategy for tracking tags and threads that I think will keep me organized and not feeling overwhelmed! Basically, I'm bookmarking active threads, which is sort of tricking my brain into thinking there is less than there actually is. Previously, I was tracking emails but when I get about four people tagging an EP, those emails started to feel overwhelming and intimidating. But so far one bookmark of a thread is reading as less. I know it's all perception and silly, but it's working so far.
Started Kameron Hurley's God's War, which has me hooked! I'm only an hour or so in, two chapters maybe, and so take this with a grain of salt, but so far it is reading as a mash-up of Steven King's Dark Tower and Mad Max Fury Road with a Muslim filter applied to everything. Tech seems to be organic and I am not sure if they are on another planet that has Earth city/country names or if this is a far future or alternate Earth. Writing is crisp and clear, using things both familiar and new.
The Appleseed wiki is completely confusing if not useless for a timeline for the series. I've just bought Appleseed ID which is an errata sort of TPB, with sketches and details of the world, so I am hoping I can get a clearer picture of the timeline, what nations still exist, and all of that. As I read the manga, just finished the first volume the other day, I am thinking I will be using it as the main focus of canon for Briareus, with the recent movies as supplemental events and visuals.
The more I read about the Fantastic Four movie, the more I'm happy to wait until it is digitally available. I think I have a write up of my fantasy F4 flick in the works.
