I've a goal for writing 400 words a day or drawing something for 15 minutes. Small steps and all that. I have been counting threads or EPs for this, but I think I need to kick my self and write something of my own, so here goes.

Breaking in wasn't as hard as Daniel had thought it was going to be. Rachael had said she knew what she was doing but he hadn't believed her. He knew better now.

This isn't to say is was easy. Scaling the fences with their razer wire, while carrying their skateboards and video cameras wasn't at all easy. Nor was spotting the security cameras before being spotted or catching the motion detecting flood lights. And he just prayed they caught all the silent alarms.

Still they got in. Past the dogs, the guards, the wards, past everything. And now they were ready to drop off into another world.

"Faerie here we come!" Rachael yells out as she road forth on her board. He was quick to follow and could only hope the wireless feed would carry over, through the portal, and update their followers. If all went well, they likely get a bump to their count. It'd be nice to pass 20k tonight.

There was a dizzying shift in...well, not gravity exactly. Reality? Either way it was almost enough to knock them on their asses, but they kept their feet, though they stopped rolling forward once they thought they had actual ground to stop on. Up felt confusing somehow, and left or right were meaningless. All that seemed to matter was forward or back, as if they, and the world, were either going toward something (someone?) or away from it. And that pull was strong. It made you forget things.

Daniel started walking towards it, leaving his board behind. Part of him wondered why--the ground was well worn here and was smooth enough for the board, and the board would get him to the thing pulling him faster--but it was a numb, detected part of him. It was the same part of him that wondered why Rachael wasn't following him and why she was putting something cold in his hands.

"You forgot the iron nail didn't you? Idiot. You're lucky I brought a backup," she said, shaking her head.

He looked down at the thing in his palm and his first instinct was to drop it, it was so cold it almost burned, but then the numb part of him woke up and clenched his fist around it. "No, I had it, but I needed the pocket for more batteries." Shaking his head at his own idiocy, he continued, "Thanks. We linked?"

"Can't tell. Signals wonky. Our cameras are seeing each other but I can't tell if we're broadcasting. So much for the live feed."

"Hey, they saw us go in and that's all we promised. They'll have to wait until we get back to upload."
