Well that was scary
Feb. 16th, 2020 03:25 pmFirst, let me preference this by saying I am fine.
I woke this morning at 4am-sih with an awful head ache. Not stabby head ache but enough I couldn't go back to sleep so I got up for some Advil. Couldn't find it which meant it was likely in my daughter's room and I didn't want to wake her up, so I took some Alka-Seltzer since head aches for me can be tied to indigestion.
And then spent the next few hours not being able to sleep, mostly due to a vertigo or motion sickness sensation. Laying on my right was okay. The vertigo was lessened and the head ache faded, but my left arm below the elbow kept going to sleep. Circulation would return once I straightened my arm, but that was awkward on my side, so I shifted to laying on my back.
The vertigo would increase on my back but was tolerable, though I wasn't very comfortable.
Laying on my left side was the worst. The vertigo spiked, my head ache returned full force, and I would get a hot flash, enough that I could feel sweat on my forehead.
Rolling back to my right side cleared all the symptoms up, even the hot flash.
Finally, after a few hours I was able to get back to sleep or at least doze until 12:30 when I got up. Told my wife and daughter about the weird night, and then got hit with a strong enough sense of vertigo I knew I was going to throw up, so I ran to the bathroom. This concerned the family enough we took my blood pressure (since some of my symptoms sounded like how heart attacks present in women. I am cis male, but am weird) and it was high, 146/91.
Daughter drove me to the ER since wife had hair dye in and needed to wash it out. At ER my BP was even higher, 164/97. They ran an EKG and a CAT scan but saw no signs of a heart attack. CAT scan did show a lot of mucus in my sinus, which could explain the vertigo.
So they discharged me and I am home. Everything seems fine. I ever had anything weirder than the vertigo but I am going to get my ass back to a fitness plan. I'm taking this as a sign and running with it.
