I just read the most disturbing news article about "puppy mills". I don't want to post it because I know of at least one person on my f-list who's reaction would be bad to have at work. It is very emotionally upsetting.

Suffice it to say I will not buy a puppy in a store...think blood diamonds. I would get a puppy/dog via adoption anyway, but now I know it's the only way.

If you really want to read it, do a search at SFGate for "puppy mills" if it doesn't show up on the front page.
