We do these things because they are hard.*
May. 3rd, 2010 07:23 pmDear Future Self,
The next time you think you can't do something because it is too hard remember this weekend. You not only road 50 miles and spent nearly 5 and a half hours on the bike, you never walked the bike and never rested more than 10minutes. Yes it was tough, yes it hurt and yes it required a lot of effort but...You Did IT. You, not someone else, YOU. And you did entirely by yourself. (Disclaimer: My wife did do a wonderful job of helping me train and encouraging me on this wonderful trip but ultimately it was my legs doing the peddling.)
You are stronger than you think.
So the next time you think you aren't strong enough to do something or think you can't do it, remember May 2nd or I will come over there and smack you on the back of the head. And Do NOT rest on your laurels! Keep looking for challenges
So in closing, don't you dare forget the Fuck Yeah moment you felt when you road across the finish line and build on that FYeah! moment with more.
*Special thanks to JFK for those wonderful words (which I paraphrased) that roused our country and got us to the Moon.
