On being productive and silly
Mar. 19th, 2018 08:14 amHad a pretty productive weekend. I slayed the Laundry monster, made chicken tortilla soup on Saturday, and then chicken and veggie curry on Sunday; all of which was pretty dang tasty, though the Teen didn't appreciate the zucchini in the curry.
I also got time to goof off. Played a lot of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes and advanced my CW Ahsoka and Sabine Wren. I also pushed Zeb up to keep his sis' company. And I may have gotten Rebels era Ahsoka, though i don't know if I'll be advancing her too her much; she's pricey!
Watched most of season 01 of The Magicians and yes, I love Kady. It was nice to watch the show without focusing on Elliot. The narrative is much different! Elliot and Margo are entertaining in a Mean Girls kind of way, but I think Julia, Kady, and Penny are much more my jam. I don't know that I want to play Kady though (more thoughts on this below), but I'm enjoying the show again. It still has some serious problems with how they treat mental illness and addictions, but the story is much better than I remember.
And as to not playing Kady...I find I want to play a lesbian magic user for some reason, bonus points if she happens to be rogue-ish, and while Kady may be bisexual, she is deeply in love with Penny. I don't mean to seem creepy in the desire to play a woman who loves women, I have no desire to fetishize, and never feel comfortable writing sexy times anyway. I just want to stretch my writing and feel like push diversity is never a bad thing. So, for now I'm just going to sit, keep looking, and focus on playing the pups I have. ETAA: You know, I'm beginning to think this is an OC that's brewing in the back of my head. I'd be nice if she came with a world and plot to go along with her.
Also, please don't suggest Willow or Tara. I am aware of them, but I am not comfortable with how they were written and just don't want to play with Whedon's toys. =)
Oh, and I finished the last Heartstriker book, which I enjoyed, though I'm not certain if I would reread. I do feel like the epilogue was pointless, as they usually are.
ETA: I also watched more of Voltron: Legendary Defender season 05, and I think they are going in interesting places, even if the show hasn't really grabbed me. It's not bad, I just think it's something I need to be in the mood for.
