More comic reading
May. 24th, 2020 03:36 pmWell, with
innerbrat says she liked the Ame-Comi Girls series, I decided to give it another shot, since the trades are pretty cheap right now. And I am glad I did. I still am not a fan of most of the costumes, but I loved the Green Lantern and the Sinestro storyline. Also liked the diesel punk Hawkgirl and Space Pirate Big Barda. There are also a few times where the dialog is clunky, but it is very comic book and I just decided to let go and anejoy the read. It ended up leaving me wanting more, especially since space pirate Big Barda was the last character introduced and it felt like a one shot. It reminded me of the Marvel Manga-verse, which had it's own problems but was ultimately fun.
I still get tempted to throw Jonatha Storm into a sandbox sometime.
I've also been binging the Vampironica trade, Jughead: The Hunger vs. Vampironica, and Vampironica: New Blood. I love this silly adventure which is basically a Buffy/Blade mashup through an Archie Comics filter. Highly recommend it.
