bjornwildeA poll for my milliways friends or those who want to vote anyway...
One of the characters I play over in Milliways Bar is Thalia Grace from the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series' of books and I have always had a hard time finding a good PB icon for use (PB icon means played by icon, think casting the role for a movie). I have been using Maggie Grace from 12 Mile Road and she's been really close but the hair is all wrong and she reminds people of her Lost character too much.
Thalia is described in Sea of Monsters as such:
She had short black hair and freckles across her nose. She was built like a long-distance runner, lithe and strong, and she wore clothes that were somewhere between punk and goth-a black T-shirt, black tattered jeans and a leather jacket with buttons from a bunch of bands I'd never heard of.
The girl's blue eyes stared into mine and I understood what the Golden Fleece quest had been about.
She is also about 15 bordering on 16 now.
So I have searched and I have five different ideas for PBs, none are quite perfect so if you have any suggestions besides your vote, I'd love to hear it.
First up Chibi, lead singer for the band The Birthday Massacre. Advantages, black hair and a punk/goth look. Disadvantage, not quite the right build, long hair and I would need to photoshop out her piercings. Also, there's not a lot of facial expressions to play with.
Second, Clea DuVall (link is to her Hollow Art page with lots of icons). Advantage, lots of facial expressions, heavy eyeliner (as Thalia is described as wearing in later books), freckles and short hair. Disadvantage I'd have to photoshop her hair dark as I did in a quick pass on the icon below. I'd likely be able to do a much better job once I find higher resolutions image to work from. I really like her to be honest, despite the extra work I'll have to do and the fact she's not "lithe". Just something about her I guess.

I think I like the texture on the first better oddly enough and the eyes came out better than I thought when I reduced the image size. Gotta love the internet and how easy it is to find good screencaps. = )
Next up, Hayley Williams lead singer for Paramour. Advantage, punk/rocker feel, right body shape (lithe but strong), fun facial expressions. Disadvantage, long hair and I'd have to photoshop it dark as well as making her eyes electric blue. The below images were quick darkenings to get an idea of how it can look. I'm not so sure she feels 15 or 16 though.
Next, Jaimie Alexander. Loved her action and attitude as Sif in Thor and I think she was pretty close to how I see Thalia in my head. Advantages, right body type, right hair color. Disadvantages, hair is too long, eye color (easy to fix), seems too old (I could hunt through Kyle XY images to find younger ones though), I haven't found a wide variety of facial expressions and she's not that punk looking (am I clinging to the punk too much?).
And lastly, Maggie Castle. Advantage, right build, right hair color and right eye color. Disadvantage, age (she reads as 18 here to me but maybe earlier works will be better?), long hair and availability of images (this one is from Todd and the Book of Evil).
So cast your votes! Who do you like best, Chibi, Clea DuVall, Hayley Williams, Jaimie Alexander or Maggie Castle?
