What's in the cards today?

So my Muse of Productivity was in high gear today for work. My Muse of Writing not so much. Just didn't feel it you know? Sorry

au_hogwarts. Also I will not be at work tomorrow and likely not online so I'm afraid Friday is likely the soonest anything gets done. My apologies but at least I'm letting you know right? I'm pretty sure most if not all of the folks I am threading with are on my Flist.
In the realm of other news, my back is feeling much better. I actually woke up and stood without feeling 60 years old! Good thing too as my wife twisted her ankle something fierce today so I'll be able to take up the slack.
Books! I've two to review quick like, The Medusa Amulet and Raven's Gate.
First, The Medusa Amulet by Robert Masello. Not a bad book. The writing was good and the story seemed interesting but by chapter three I didn't have any emotional investment in any of the characters. If you haven't grabbed me by page 75 I'm putting the book down. I would describe it as a super natural thriller in the vein of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code as it had a very similar tone. If you enjoy Mr. Brown's work, you'd likely enjoy this book. It just wasn't for me.
Next, Raven's Gate by Anthony Horowitz...oh my gods guys, this book is a seriously creepy thriller. It reads like the first half of Lovecraft story; where you know something is very wrong but you don't know what. I also get a strong Prisoner vibe for it. VERY GOOD in other words. I do wonder what is up with the author and his perchance for torturing YA boys. This is the same author of the Alex Rider series. At least he doesn't preach at you like Orson Scott Card.
