This year was my first time participating in the Yuletide fanfic exchange and I had a blast. I wrote a story I called We had a team up...you were great and it was a very interesting piece in how it evolved. The request letter was primarily for Jakita Wagner from Warren Ellis' Planetary and some of the things the requester had wanted was bits of her past. I had every plan to write that with flash backs to highlight times of personal growth for Jakita. The request letter also gave suggestions for a cross-over with the NuDCU since Wildstorm characters were now part of NuDCU canon and immediately Batwoman came to mind. Finally the request letter thought an urban legend type case could be fun and suggested something like the Slender Man. I also wanted to do a piece for the Misses Clause challenge.

All of these elements started to mix but soon enough Batwoman and Slender Man pushed aside any attempts I made of showing Jakita's past. Finally I gave up trying to force the issue and just went with the flow of the story and I must say I am pretty pleased with the result. Jakita and Batwoman sound and act like themselves and by leaving them unsuccessful in catching the Slender Man I was true to his canon as well. I really like the idea of Batwoman being a contact for the Planetray Corp. as well and I think there might be some fun to be had playing with this idea. Can't wait until Elijah and Batwoman meet. ; p
