All I have to do is sign my name and I am free...or so they say. They being the doctors and nurses and lawyers, strangers all. Just sign my name and I can walk through the doors to the world, away from clinical white walls, medications, whimpers and screams. It has taken me three years to convince them, to earn this "freedom", and yet I find myself reluctant. They say I will be free but they are wrong. William Edwards may be free as the release papers will say but I am not William Edwards. This is am sure of. Who am I? Well, that I do not know.
And the other 100 (head canon for Dum Dum Dugan):
They saved the world. Fury's gamble had worked and the Avengers were viable. The cost was high; lives lost and property damage. The helicarrier alone will be millions if not billions to repair and be viable again. But the world is safe again.
Too bad his protégé had paid the ultimate price. Dum Dum raised the glass of 100 year old Glenlivet in salute to Agent Phil Coulson, not bothering to wipe at the tear rolling down his cheek, before throwing it in the fire place.
