o.O I don't buy that. In the promotional poster, he's in his classic suit.

Charles isn't going to change that much over the years to become sloppy and he doesn't wear clothes that are that in style. There's something going on there.

I imagine it's a bad photo and the final edit of the film will look much less sleezy. It's still funny to me.

The outfit and hair look completely out of character. I think its probably a plot outfit since he does look good in a way just not like Charles.

That's very true. The shirt does say 1973. I wonder if it's a mental projection to blend in?

That seems far more logical to me or possibly if he had to go into hiding or something. Since I can't see Charles choosing to wear that unless he had to.

I personally always like James with facial hair and longer hair, its how I make him work for Will but its not Charles.

OMG that looks -- wild, let's says. I'm with Fi!Kate in thinking that he's probably trying to blend in for plot reasons. Usually, in the X-Men movies, it's Erik who gets the atrocious fashion sense/over-stylishness, not Charles, who tends to look professorial at whatever time and age.
