OUaT thoughts
May. 13th, 2013 10:23 amMostly this will be thoughts about the season finale from last night and maybe a prediction or two.
First, I realized last night that Mulan, Aurora and Philip are sort of in a Fallout-like world. Not quite as ape shit insane but still. I mean the Curse took out nearly everyone and those that remained got taken out by Cora. Then there are ogres and who knows what other monsters about. And what did ever happen to all the villains? I guess they have vegetation and animals in their favor, though.
Ok, onto my thoughts. Which I am putting beneath a cut and in white text in case you want to talk/comment on the above but don't want to be spoiled with the below.
ETA: And I just realized the journal theme I use has a colored back ground that white shows up on. I tried matching the ecolor and it made my eyes hurt so the spoiler content is *not* white texted or hidden beyond the cut. Sorry.
I loved seeing Mulan and her posse again and thought it was a nice bookend for the season since we started with them as well. Not sure how I feel about Philip being back in the picture. Nothing against him, I just really ship sleeping warrior. And they better be more active in season 3. I want my Mulan to be a big part.
I suspect the shadow being from Neverland is what is left of the previous Dark One and that Henry is destined to undo him rather than Rumple. I need to rewatch the episode where Rumple hears the prophecy to be sure. Other possibilities for the identity of the shadow being are Cora (which doesn't work since she wouldn't have be killed back when Bae went to Neverland) or Mia, Bae's mother (but she never had magic right?). Of course Neverland could have it's own messed up time which doesn't work in a liner fashion.
So glad Regina got to be redeemed and loved Emma and her saving everyone. I totally cried when Belle got her memories back.
Not sure why the anti-magic league would want to go to another world to give Henry to the shadow being, unless it will prevent the shadow being from kidnapping kids from Earth?
The trigger makes no sense to my understanding of Regina's MO. She wouldn't take everyone out without having a way out for herself.
I think that's everything.

I still wonder if he isn't someone we've already met, like how Cora was the Queen of Hearts. I also still stand by my prediction that Henry is the Shadow Man's undoing rather than Rumble's. Unless Henry is responsible to bringing Rumble fully ou tof the dark.

Date: 2013-05-16 07:57 pm (UTC)Haha, yeeeeah. I never went through that realization with Peter Pan, because I loved the play before the Disney film, but I remember being shocked about a lot of other Disney movies that cutesied up some pretty horrible tales. That's why I'm so curious to see where they go with this shadow plot, even if I have some reservations.
If Peter/the Shadow is someone we've already met, he would have to be someone from FTL who got sent to Neverland for one reason or another (the way Cora was sent to Wonderland, but originally a FTL character), since the curse only affected those in Regina's realm. Storybrooke has been missing all the key figures from Wonderland, Neverland, Agrabah, King Triton's realm, Mowgli's Jungle, et al. Thus making all the plots with outside characters coming in possible. It definitely would be interesting, but from the last two episodes my strong impression is that Peter = The Shadow in this universe, and is tied in some way with the anti-magic league, as we haven't seen who the shadowy overlords are but have been given lots of foreshadowing about how they have "no idea who they're working for" or "what they're dealing with", so. We'll see how it all pans out! *fingers crossed*
As far as Henry being the undoing, I'm 99.9% positive it is in relation to Rumpel, since the Seer was divulging his future and not the Dark One's. But yeah, popular opinion is that the "undoing" basically means freeing Rumple from the Dark One's curse so he can go back to being the man he was before magic took its hold. Killing him or in other ways making him suffer is not very Disney. Then again, we do have a whole season of physical, mental, and emotional abuse targeted at Regina, so who knows!

Date: 2013-05-17 07:20 pm (UTC)It would have been interesting, all the same! I really wanted a bigger plot with Neverland this season than what we got. Well, fingers crossed for season 3, with interesting twists and more Mulan, right? :)
