 So what to listen to next, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, or The Fault of Our Stars? Given how long Strange and Norrell is, I might grab all three so I can have a break if I need it.

I'm on the last part of The Wise Man's Fear (book 2 of The Kingkiller Chronicles) by Patrick Rothfuss and I am really unsure if I like this series or not. It is definitely well written and the world is beautifully built but the main character is such a pendulum, ranging from my liking the character to hating him. I've read books before where I hate or like the character and then had the author change my feelings as the story progresses but this is the first book I can think of where I keep changing my mind about the character. And that is awesome. So I guess I like it but I can't say I like the main character all of the time.

I love Strange and Norrell but have no idea how it will work as an audio book since it has lots of footnotes. The other two are much shorter.

I have read audiobooks with footnotes before and they usually work pretty well. Granted, the one I can think of is a Discworld novel so milage may vary. = ]

I went nuts and just bought all three and I'll see what happens. I do note that Strange and Norrell is billed as 32 hours while the other two are under 7 hours.

Well, they're very different genres. Perks and Fault in Our Stars are both YA and Strange and Norrell is a fantasy novel written in an older style. I love it because it feels as if it was written by someone who knew Jane Austen but in a world with magic and historians and it makes me happy. Its one of my favorite books but it doesn't always work for everyone. If you have trouble getting into it, I recommend The Ladies of Grace Adieu, its a short story collection by the same author.

I will definitely check that out! I did enjoy Sorcery and Cecily so I am hoping that S&N will capture my attention. I did have someone recommend the audiobook so I am hopeful the narration is good. Were you aware there's a movie in the works for S&N? BBC produced and everything if my memory is working tonight. I know there are a lot of British actors involved, at least.

I love the Sorcery and Cecilia books and then you'll probably like S&N. Yes, I've heard about it being turned into something but only drips and drabs, I'm curious but wary. A lot of what makes the book work for me comes from the illustrations and the way its written.

I look forward to hearing if it works since I don't listen to audiobooks.
