The inherent flaw in iCloud and iTunes

 Okay, my bad for not tracking my finances very well and being overdrawn for a day. But thanks to this, my debit card pinged as bad and now my account on iTunes is locked until I can prove I have a valid method of paying. So far no problem and totally my bad.

The problem is now I can't access anything I've previously bought (unless I downloaded it instead of using the iCloud service they are so happy to shove down my throat) and I can't even install a free app because I am trapped in "You must update your CC info". I can see getting that message when I try to buy something, until I get this fixed, but to access shit I've already bought?

See this is why I prefer Google Play and Amazon. If only I could get my wife and daughter to play along.

Actually, this kind of thing is why I prefer iTunes to purchase streaming services like Amazon - as long as I download a backup copy of my purchase, I know it can't simply be removed from my account. Both iTunes and Amazon have been known to remove content that users actually purchased without warning/notification, but as Amazon doesn't allow you to download the actual files, there's no way to mitigate it with them.

Intersting point. And I know what you are talking about as the Dr. Strange soundtrack is no longer available for purchase. I've also noticed at least one song of the RWBY soundtrack has changed on Google Play while the original version is still on my iTunes.

Bottom line, I guess, is for me to download things from iTunes and manage my money better. = ]

Yeah I mean, at least once you get everything sorted out it should be back to normal? But in some cases the content will just be removed altogether - I actually had an issue with that recently because Nickelodeon pulled Korra from the iTunes store. While I was still able to download the season 2 episodes I'd bought, season 1 is gone entirely, probably because it's streaming on Amazon. Fortunately, I'd downloaded and stored the original files so I still have it, but that is a really frustrating aspect of buying digital media right now. It basically means I only buy what I want enough to keep the files for, and try to make sure I have space to store them.
