 My theories for Rey's parentage, spoilers behind the cut.
Mostly I just want to write this to refer to it when the reveal happens. I do not want Rey to be Luke or Han & Leia's daughter.

I suspect she is related to Obi-Wan, perhaps a grand daughter. He did have some 19 years on Tatooine after all.

My out there theory, which I love, is that she is the grand daughter or great grand daughter of Shmi, but her parents are not any known Skywalker. Think of it. Shmi was forgotten on Tatooine for at least 5 years or so before Anakin came back to find she'd been taken by the Sandpeople, what if she'd had another child? I like this because it brings her back to the forefront of the mythos.

I do like this write up in Tor and agree, Rey not being a Skywalker is much more interesting. Problem is the whole Star Wars story is supposed to be of the Skywalker family. Having her be from a new branch of the Skywalker family could be a nice compromise.

I think I like it as it's sneaky, brings Shmi back (as I mentioned), and would be a fresh start to the Skywalker clan.

I also wonder about Finn's family. With the small galaxy trope and Maz saying she'd seen his eyes before, I suspect he's related to either Mace Windu or Lando; unless it's someone from the books or comics, as Poe is.

I'd bet on Windu before Lando, given that we've seen hints that he may have some degree of Force sensitivity himself. E.g., being able to resist stormtrooper brainwashing/training, Ren taking notice of him, etc. etc. etc.

Mace was my first thought as well. I wish there had been more options. I also hope they introduce an alien force sensitive (aside from Maz) in the next movies.
