I have fallen into a new canon and I don't think I want to look back. As with most new things with me, I've latched onto a character and am fantasizing about playing them. In this case, Tara Abernathy from the Craft Sequence.
I've decided to be smart about things this time, however. I am imposing a cool off period before I begin to even write up a profile or app. I'm also going to finish her entire canon so as to make sure she sticks around. Don't want to get caught like I did with Pino; where the canon got weird to the point I know I don't have the understanding or time to figure out how to play it.
All that being said, I think I will toss her into a sandbox from time to time to test the waters. I will likely wait until I finish book three, or which ever book will have Tara in it again. Okay, it looks like that will be book 05 for Tara's return and I am halfway through book 02. Yeah, more cool off time.
The books are weird as far as timelines go, having been published out of chronological order. I've elected to read them as published just so as to get a solid understanding of the world, as well as Tara herself.
I'm also having a challenge with finding a PB. Covers show Tara as having darker skin (medium black tone?) and the natural hair of a black woman. Within the book she is described as having a lighter skin tone (light black tone. the author uses a food/beverage description with I am not going to repeat), natural hair, hazel eyes, and freckles. I was aiming for a darker skin tone since most fan casts and movie casting tend to depict black women with lighter skin tones, but I am not finding black actresses with dark skin and freckles. I like the idea of the freckles too much.
I do like Antonia Thomas a lot and will likely just run with her (although her freckles don't show at icon size and she has a lighter skin tone. I just love her eyes), backed with aesthetic icons. I just need to decide on what aesthetics I want to use.
All in all, I just love the idea of an advocate/negotiator/magician/necromancer in a world were faith and souls are traded as commodities. I even have a great journal name picked out,
