I saw Rise of Skywalker and enjoyed it
Dec. 23rd, 2019 08:43 amA bullet list of thoughts with spoilers.
- I finally saw it yesterday and was pleased. I enjoyed it.
- The surprise Palpatine (both hand-waved holo in the opening scroll and being Rey's grandfather) was eh, and seemed lazy writing to me, but also so damned typical Sheez.
- I loved Rey's new lightsaber! Very curious if the yellow/gold-hued blade will mean anything
- But I like the spin to turn it on and that it looks to be made from her staff.
- I liked that Ben kept having to do things in his redemption and it wasn't just one act. (I'm looking at you Vader)
- Not as pleased that Leia had to die to trigger it...but I know they had to do something
- I LOVE that they showed Leia training with Luke and her lightsaber was so pretty.
- Again, not so pleased that she stepped off the jedi path to save her son. I'd rather it had been because she felt the galaxy needed her in the political arena.
- I feel like Finn and Poe had things to do. I feel like Rose was just along for the ride. :/
- I loved Sheev's corpse self dangling from that machine. Very Gieger and creepy
- Did anyone spot the Ghost in the end battle? I looked but was kind of overwhelmed with all the ships.
- I do feel like a few waves of Resistance ships incoming might have built tension a bit more, but I guess they all needed to come in at the same time due to the navigational challenges of the planet and local space
- Also, did anyone hear Anakin's voice when the past Jedi spoke with Rey? My audio processing wasn't up to the task of IDing the voices so well.
- Chewie! Man, I near had a heart attack when I thought he'd died. And his keening at Leia's death was my heart as well.
