Book thoughts: Of Fire and Stars

I've picked up this book again and am starting to get into it. I do keep having the misogynistic(?) voice in my head telling me this is girl stuff and boring. It is very tropey but well written, it's just got a healthy dose of I don't know what to call it. The voice that keeps saying it's girl stuff says things like like soup opera or melodramatic, but I'm digging in harder every time that voice is happening. I will give this book an honest go dang it.

Anyway, it is interesting and fun in its way.

I also watched The Old Guard and damn if that wasn't good, though a bit shallow in the story. Good enough I want to read the comics and hope for a sequel.

Another thing I am realizing, or deconstructing about myself with Of Fire and Stars is how I react to accents. One of the characters has a very cultured and upper-class accent, which is appropriate as she's been trained since early childhood to be a queen, but it is tripping in my head as her having a superior attitude. I don't know if this comes from my coming from a lower-middleclass worker background or if it's the work of Hollywood/TV but it's another thing for me to work on getting rid of.
