So here's the cover art:
The cover artist is consistent through out the series, so Eve is always looking much like this on the books.
Here are the faces I am thinking of, Madeleine Mantock (I've already photoshoped the red eye all necromancers in canon have), Hayley Law, and Annie Ilonzeh.
I am leaning towards Annie Ilonzeh but I like all three. I worry Madeleine might be too light of skin tone. Mostly I just want the natural hair and a noticeably dark skin tone, since colorism.
Madeleine does have the advantage of being in The Craft reboot as well as Into The Badlands, so I'd have magic effects to icon as well as alt -world fashions.
I like Hayley Law as she seems like she's still figuring things out and she also has a playful quality to her.
And then I like Annie as she has a lot of range in the links above and the darker skin tone.
ETA: OK, I am sticking with Madeleine Mantock. Thinking about canon and who Eve is, I'd describe her as being more like Cordelia (minus the mean girl) than Buffy, so bad ass isn't a firm part of her make up.
Also, here's some canon descriptions I looked into:
Apart for her eyes, the first thing people noticed about Eve were the dark, wild curls on her head made even wider by her winter hat. She had deep, golden-brown skin that had nothing to do with the sun and a noticeable smattering of freckles across her face. The freckles and curls had a tendency to disappoint most people’s notions of how a necromancer should look.
The only outward sign betraying her as a necromancer was her eyes. One a warm brown and the other a dark, blood red that caught whatever light happened to be in a room and advertised her.
Collecting links for my ease of use, here's Madeleine in Into The Badlands (which will have nice alt-world formal wear). I think I would also like to find more casual looks for her, which I can grab from The Craft or Madeleine's instagram.
