bjornwildeThings are not looking good for Viv in the latest Outlawed story line and the relaunch of Champions. :(
So the latest story Viv is involved in is Outlawed, which is Marvel's Civil War part 3. Basic idea is a near Stamford disaster happens, with Kamala Khan getting injured enough to be in a coma and Viv seemingly goes haywire before going boom, seemingly destroyed/killed.
The government, being reactionary, decides they must protect the kids and so pass a law, named the Kamala Law, to make it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to be an active super hero without an adult mentor.
The start of the event happened several months ago and I've been waiting on word whether they killed Viv again or not. This week, I got my answer with the relaunch of the Champions title.
Some of the bad I took away from Champion v3 #01:
Kamala making a statement as the Champions by herself without first asking the other members their feeling or thoughts on the Kamala Law. Bad choice, but I can see her doing this as she is the team leader and the law is being named after her.
The anti teen hero task for is called CRADLE. Which is "Child-Hero Reconnaissance and Disruption Law Enforcement". Does SHIELD not have Marketing people?
Lunella Lafayette, aka Moon Girl, siding with the cops and announcing plans to make a CRADLE school club. Sure, let's have the WOC form a policing student club. What could go wrong?
Last, and the part I am concerned with, Viv had an appearance in the last couple panels and seems to have sold out the Champions as the team had a secret meeting to discus things and were busted by CRADLE, who mention an anonymous tip that was likely from a synthezoid.
I'm still going to give the story line a chance. I think asking the question of if teens should be super heroes is a good one, but I don't like the heavy handed way they are doing it.
The story is being written by Eve L. Ewing, so I have hopes and I have two ideas on why Viv might be acting against the Champions, if she is indeed doing so.
