bjornwildeSo Monday Katie mentioned, in bath, that she didn't like the boys, and was intimidated by them, at school because they kept playing Power Rangers and interrupting the girls play by "shooting" them. WE tried explaining to Katie that she should just ignore them, or that if she asked Zeus maybe he would help (Katie loves Zeus for some reason.). Nothing seemed to work so my Geeky Cheesy brain tried to remember what I knew of Power Rangers...which led to the my remembering they were the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and if I remembered right they used Morphin Power" to combat evil. So I came up with the idea of using a Morphin Shield, which Katie was doubtful of but loved the hand motions we came up with.
Last night she was so excited! The boys were so confused by the "Morphin Shield" they froze confused. They also didn't know what she was doing, whether this was because they don't make a big deal of "Morphin Energy" or because I was completely pulling it out of the dark recesses not to be truly mentioned.
Then, in true almost 4-year-old fashion, she wanted to know if there was a Spider Woman. Of course there is, in fact there have been 4 but their costumes don't look much like Spiderman's. But there is a Spider Girl! Her costume is like Spiderman's! I want to be her for Halloween! So I went online and showed her what the costumes looked like and she is very enthused about being Spider Girl now.
Of course I found Spider Girl costumes to buy but I don't think I like them...Now if I can find a blue bodysuit in her size I can get some fabric for the red parts of the costume and, using fabric paint, paint the webbing, maybe find some Wonder Woman bracelets, make a mask like Spider Woman's so she is comfortable...That could be the hard part. laragoth, what was the name of that stuff that makes fabric hard? I could use some of that. Course then I would need a model head to be a mold...

Once I found the costume shops, I tried to interest Katie in Wonder Woman, Super Girl or even Raven or Starfire from Teen Titans but she had moved on to greater things by then. I wonder if there are any children's manga for Super Girl or Wonder Woman, maybe even Spider Girl. Hrrmm...I'd introduce her to Red Sonja but that damn Chainmail Bikini is too silly.
