OKay, I admit it I have a problem...
Sep. 21st, 2011 12:45 pmSo I've been so good with only checking out one or two books from the library. But then last Sunday the eldest wee one and I went to the main branch of the city library and well, I got a little carried away to the tune of something like 13 books. What's really bad/funny is at least 9 of them came from the children's sections as that's where we started and my daughter kept handing me books she thought I would like. Seeing as how I do the same to her, it only seemed fair I check them out right?
First book I'm reading is called The Fire Within and it's by Chris D'Lacey. It's cute and seems to be about a woman who makes clay dragons that come to life. I'm not sure who well the story will hold up to the 300 pages the book presents though nor the trilogy it's part of but I'll see. My daughter loves it and I trust her enough to give it a try. So far it feels very much like a cartoon movie or after school special.
I've also started Steven King's Dark Tower trilogy with The Gunslinger in audiobook form and so far I have to wonder why there so much smut in it and if this continues. I'm only to the second chapter but thus far every woman presented is sexualized and I'm not sure I'll be able to take it if this is par for the course. It is well written and vivid as most of Steven Kings work that I've read.
If anyone asks, I'll be happy to list the children's books I'll be reading or you can just wait until I get to the review.
