Just finished Aru Shah and the End of Time, by Roshani Chokshi, and I loved this book so much. Easily a 4 and leaning towards a five star, and I will definitely be reading the series.

The things i loved the most about it, in bullets:
  • The protagonists were two girls, with no boys taking the spot light
  • The girls started as lukewarm friends, with all the cautious teasing and tolerance that entails, and end up as siblings by the end, with all the casual love and teasing that entails. I don't think I've read sisters done this clearly in some time.
  • Respectful modernization of the gods. (I love Rick Riodran and what he did for Classic mythology, but I felt he was disrespectful, at times, to the gods. And yes, I know the Greeks could be just as disrespectful).
  • The humor felt like kids humor and not Dad humor (another thing I feel Rick Riordan is guilty of).
