Musing on LJ RPGing
Sep. 1st, 2009 09:44 amMostly for my fellow
milliways_bar friends, so feel free to ignore.
I think I've figured out why I've been getting burnt out on threading at
milliways_bar; I've been trying to run too many characters at once. Note that I mean having too many pups active at once, not "owning" too many pups.
I noticed a trend last week where I would tag back to threads in the morning and not receive replies back for an hour or so, folks still being asleep or taking care of morning business. Then I would get bored and wrapped up in the glee of threading would tag in or EP with other pups and then before I know what's happened I've got some 15-20 emails to tag back on as the original threads catch up.
So I've decided I need to limit myself to only having two pups active at any time. I think I can handle switching between two. I know three is too much as last week I only played Ben Grimm, Val von Doom and Emperor Norton and got overwhelmed. I also need to be less afraid to close a thread when I feel overwhelmed.
How I am going to work in a new pup, Grover Underwood, and the one that's scratching at the back of my head, Roy Batty, I don't know.
