This is Black Bolt, king of the Inhumans from Marvel comics. Even just a whisper of his voice can level mountains so him holding his finger to his lips and "saying" hush is too classic. I got the original image from a magazine article or ad about a comic event a few years back about the Inhumans nearly going to war with the US called funny enough Silent War.
As a teen and tween who had a lot of issues with self confidence and isolation, I loved Anne Mccaffrey's Dragon Riders of Pern series of books. I especially loved The White Dragon as it was about a boy who had issues with self confidence, over coming them and taking his place in the world. This is really the formula for all the Dragon RIder books but I digress. Add to this the idea of bonding with a telepathic dragon that loved you no matter what you did...well I was sold and still love the core series.
With all the writing I've been doing for Milliways and the occasional forays into original works, I felt I needed an icon to represent writing. My hand writing sucks and I just don't write physically. I do my writing on the computer but a flashing courser doesn't do it for me. I also love old fashioned type setting with this reminds me of.
One of my new favorite characters, Mecha Maid from the webcomic Spinnerette. It's sort of a parody of the super hero genre yet is serious at the same time. I like Mecha Maid as she scary competent as a hero but outside of her suit she suffers from ALS.
Sometimes work just feels like your running and not getting anywhere.
All that glitters is Wonder Woman. I love this image as it's like the candle in the dark. I miss Gail Simone's Wonder Woman. She was about the only writer I could reliably enjoy on the comic. I'm a Marvel fan. I've tried reading DC from time to time but it never grabs me and keeps me. Something always puts me off. I love the characters but the world doesn't work for me. Gail's Wondy worked for me some how.
