Thoughts on Hank
Jun. 18th, 2012 07:11 amI think I am definitely going to have to buy him a paid account, I keep finding new icon fodder! If I do buy a paid account it will definitely be the
no_more_hiding as that's the phrase that fits his whole life rather then the brief time he is human looking.
Speaking of Beast a few random thoughts from the weekend and my morning commute:
A) When he gets into fights I need to remember that his kicks can punch, block and grab. In fact I think he might need to spend some Milliways time developing his own martial art to capitalize on his unique physiology. I think him playing Pyramid will help with this. I also think he will base his martial art on Judo, Aikido, and other "defensive" martial arts.
B) I think during the 60s and early 70s, before he outs himself as a mutant Hank will have many written correspondences with the scientific community. Likely it will start as polite questions about the addressee's theories but ultimately I can see him becoming this ghost in the community who's opinion is highly valued. How this will play out when he outs himself will be interesting.
C) I really like the idea of Hank having to work around his appearance to earn his doctorate. At this point I am thinking he will arrange to do the work through correspondence with Charles as his witness, figuring an Oxford doctorate would be trusted. When it comes time for Hank to defend his thesis, Charles can come along and use a mental illusion to mask Hank's appearance.
D) Only problem with the above is how do they handle Hank's legal identity? In fact, does Hank even have a legal identity anymore? White text spoiler to follow: With the Division X massacred and the CIA none the wiser to mutants due to Charles erasing Moria's memories, where does that leave Hank? The CIA would still have records on Hank so a Henry McCoy showing up doing work at Harvard is going to raise alarm bells as I would assume the CIA think he's dead, massacred along with the rest of Division X.
E) I think for Hank to join the Pyramid games at Milliways he'll need to be encouraged and convinced pre-transformation. Once he's furry he will also need claw sheaths so he doesn't accidentally scratch other players or puncture the ball. Perhaps Teja can make him some out of leather?
F) Playlist is getting longer, a full CD now. I'd be happy to post it if anyone's curious. Did iPup make the move over to DW?
G) I think Hank's motto is something like, "You have no control over prejudice but you do over whether they define you."
