Why Anton had been given the responsibility to observe the Day Watch operation he did not know. What he did know was that no matter how much they tried to drive him away with their taunts against Tiger Cubs' character or Olga's parentage, he would be there watching. He almost hoped they would screw up.

Looking into Svetta's eyes and seeing all the pain he had caused her, Anton knew the price of hiding from his fate was too high. He was being foolish and if he was going to be a fool why not be one in love?
