Ground control to Major Tom
Feb. 14th, 2014 12:25 pmWith only five hours of sleep under my belt today I am having trouble focusing. All I want to do is read Black Blade Blues and chill but I've work and a great thread with Anton and Brimstone. Maybe i need more tea.
In rereading Black Blade Blues I am being reminded how much I love this series. I really would advise it if you are looking for a fast paced urban fantasy and like Norse myths and dragons. I fear, as with most good entertainments lately, the main character is creeping into my head as a voice. I love her struggle with accepting her life (being gay and non-conformitng to traditional gender roles) juxtaposed with accepting that dragons, dwarves, and maybe even gods exist. If I go so far as to make an account, she'll stay in the sandboxes for now.
Last night I saw The Naked and Famous and Imagine Dragons perform in an arena and it was a damn good show. It has been sometime since i was that charged up. N&F sounded beautiful and spot on. They played music from their new album which I haven't heard (except Hearts Like Ours). Imagine Dragons were glorious and you could tell they know how to work an audience. Highlights included It's Time (which they started as straight up a capella) and them covering Rush's Tom Sawyer (which they did quite well, though the singer missed a few of the highest notes).
Had lots of Andrea feels, too, since Imagine Dragons is one of her bands.
