Fun things about my job
Mar. 21st, 2014 03:20 pm I know I complain about my job and mention being booked solid from time to time but I have never really talked much about what it is I do. I'm a production artists for a medical device company. Basically, any time there is a change to packaging (cartons or all the fun things within), it's my job to make sure those changes are done accurately and, ideally, timely.
Since we are a FDA regulated company, the way we treat paper work is very specific. Anything that is a permeant record must be dated and signed in a very specific fashion; day month year, name printed and then my signature. When we make a mistake, we are required to cross out the error once and in such a way what is crossed out can still be read (i.e. a single line through the error), an explanation for what the error was, and then you date and sign like like above, while adding the correction.
What's really fun is when I get the date wrong on something that I am just signing and dating but listing no other data. I want to head desk every time I do it cause it ends up looking like this:20 Mar 14
Wrong date.
