Things that make you go hmmm
Sep. 12th, 2014 04:39 pmRPG is being fun again now that I've accepted that I can only give it what I can and have mostly stopped kicking myself for being a massive flake. Tybalt helps this a lot as he is very fun.
Something I've been thinking a lot about this past week is RPG and how much you owe to the character to research/learn. A very good Sabine Wren RPG'er on Tumblr had a mini-rant about how you have to read all the things and study and you owe it to the character and, yeah. I sort of agree with her (going with the character's gender since I have no idea what the player's is) but it intimidated me into almost dropping my thoughts of playing Sabine as I know very little about Mandalorian culture.
Today though, I'm not so sure I agree. Especially in regards to a Mandalorian and Star Wars considering Disney and Lucas just gave the expanded universe the flush as far as them being canon. Yes, studying the character and their culture can improve game play and it should be considered, but it shouldn't be a all or nothing thing. Happy, pretendy funtimes, remember?
Onto my weight loss...As I've said before, I'm trying my best to focus on my health and fitness and not my gravitational pull. I am getting in better shape. I'm able to run for more than 3 minutes at a stretch and even did 20 minutes straight on Wednesday. I'm not sure if I'm noticing much on my strength training but I've noticed my watch bands are having to be tighter and a shirt I haven't worn in some time fits much looser.
I do keep hearing the voice that says I suck because I'm not dropping pounds but when I do, I remind myself how much weight I have lost. And when the words don't work, I walk over to the free weights, pick up the appropriate amount and show myself how much lighter I am.
All in all, I think I am getting to a better head and body space.
