Behind a cut as it could be a spoiler if you haven't read An Artificial Night, book 03 of the October Daye series.

So early in the book, Tybalt mentions that Toby has lied to him but he knows it wasn't her fault she did so. He gives his looking into the truth of the matter as to why he disappeared for a few months (I think it was this as well as him trying to sort out his feeling for her).

What I would like to know is where did he go to research this question? Did he speak with the Luidaeg? Almandine? I doubt it was Sylvester as he wouldn't have known what the lie was.

My guess - and it's only a guess at this point - is that it was Amandine. Didn't we see a separate instance in which he was able to find her when no one else could?

I think you are right. Like when Toby was elfshot?

Also, it occurred to me that the Luidaeg would likely have been unable to answer due to geas. Of course, that begs the question as to why Almandine gave him answers.

And yes, when she was elfshot - that's the one I'm thinking of. When Amandine changed the balance of her blood back away from human, so that she'd survive it.

I think that the importance of that "lie" is going to tie in to what it means that Amandine is The Last Among the First, which evidently is majorly important... and is clearly some sort of prophecy/foretelling that Toby doesn't know, but which others do (e.g. Arden).

No problem. I've read all the books so far and I did post a warning that spoilers may happen. At this point, I am rereading the series again to look for the threads to that last book. Funny how a lot of Evening's machinations I took for Amandine's hiding of Tody's true nature.

I am very much looking forward to what the next story arc and meta arc are going to be. I do wonder if Evening will be returning as well as what will happen with the false Queen, since she is still out there. I wonder if she was working in league with Evening or not? If she was, I wonder if she will wake Evening somehow.

Oh, I just remembered another point to Late Eclipses that touches on this. As she was dying, Oleander called Amandine a betrayer (the implication was to Faerie) as well as the last of the first born. More puzzle pieces!
